The Mercer Island High School Band has a strong history of national and international performances. Upcoming trips include a trip to Australia, and recently the marching band traveled to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

In the past, the band was selected to make it’s third appearance in the prestigious Tournament of Roses Parade in 2012, the London New Year’s Day Parade in 2011, and completed a 10-day cultural and musical exchange in China in 2008.

These exciting opportunities offer our student artists remarkable life experiences and build and an incredibly positive esprit de corp among band members and their families.

The Mercer Island Band offers fundraising and scholarship opportunities to students and their families assuring that all eligible band members can participate in band-related trips.

“You get pretty close to people when you ride a plane, eat half a chicken with your bare hands, wait two hours in a line for a roller coaster, or start a giant mosh pit in Hollywood together, but you really become a family when you work your tails off for more than 4 months. When after that 4 months you pull together and show everyone what you’ve been working towards and your performance is better than anyone could have ever anticipated. When you see the band directors that have believed in you from the start claim that they have “allergies” to hide their proud tears. That moment is when I felt that I became part of the band family.”  Allie C.

Scholarship Assistance Support

At Mercer Island High School, we want band trips to be available to all eligible students, regardless of their ability to pay for the trip. There are always some students who, despite their best efforts at fundraising, need additional assistance to participate in this trip.  If you would like to make a donation to support these students through the band’s scholarship fund visit our donation page and indicate this in the comments section of the online donation form, or write a note when you submit your check.
